5 Reasons Why Lebanese Ecommerce Brands Fail

The truth is that most ecommerce brands in Lebanon fail, and it usually comes down to one of five reasons. Know them, fix them, and you have a much better shot at making it in the ecommerce space.

1. A weak, low-converting website

A weak website with a lot of friction is one of the biggest problems in ecommerce. If a customer can’t figure out what the product is, what it costs, and how to complete an order in under 30 seconds with little to no friction, you’ve already lost most of them.

Investing in a professional, conversion-optimized website isn’t optional. It’s the foundation everything else sits on.

2. A weak offer

You could have the best of everything — marketing, website, product — but if the offer doesn’t add up, you’re not going to make a profit. A bad offer usually means pricing too high or too low. I’ve seen stores doing $10-20k USD in monthly revenue that are still losing money.

3. No long-term plan

Almost every brand I’ve worked with has had this problem. They chase the sale, but there’s no plan for what comes after — no follow-ups, no upsells, no cross-sells, no retention.

They’re stuck acquiring new customers over and over in an endless loop. If your brand can’t generate orders without constantly running ads, you’re already set up to fail.

4. No creative strategy

A lot of brands have no creative strategy. They film and test a pile of ads in month one, spend a fortune, then produce nothing in month two — or they just keep remaking the same type of content over and over.

Sometimes you hit a lucky winner, but that doesn’t mean you should run that same format forever. Every ad eventually hits fatigue, so you always need to be looking for new angles.

A real creative strategy isn’t a nice-to-have.

5. No market research

Little to no market research before committing to a product. Most brand owners pick a product because they like it, or because they like the aesthetic of owning that kind of brand.

But ecommerce is like math. No matter how much you feel that 1 + 1 = 3 is prettier, 1 + 1 will always equal 2.

Do proper market research. Test before you commit. Don’t get emotionally attached.

The takeaway

Most of these failures aren’t bad luck — they’re the same avoidable mistakes repeated across the market. Audit your brand against all five, fix the ones that apply to you, and your odds change completely.
